We really can’t escape the Fifty Shades effect can we? With reports today revealing that 999 calls are soaring thanks to – ahem – experimentation inspired by the books, the Mail Online reports that the series’ official lingerie is to be launched next month.
British lingerie company BlueBella are debuting this their first collection at the Moda Lingerie & Swimwear Show at the NEC Birmingham in August, so not long to wait for all those wannabe Anastatias.
Items will be ‘playful and sensual but also wearable’, and will include sexy bras, babydolls, boxers and knickers – complete of course with detachable silk ties. They range in price from £12 to £40, with some items embroidered with well-known phrases from the popular series – ‘Laters baby’, ‘Oh my!’ and ‘You. Are. Mine.’
It’s about time the franchise got going with an underwear range, and it’s nice to see E L James has gone with a start-up rather than an established brand. The author worked with the company to ensure the erotic pieces capture the essence of the famous books.
Emily Bendell, chief executive and founder of BlueBella, says: ‘As we await the release of the Fifty Shades of Grey film, and a new wave of excitement surrounding the erotic phenomenon reaches fever pitch, we are thrilled to be developing the lingerie and underwear collections that will coincide with both the run-up to and launch of the film.’
What a great way to get a new company on the map – given our ongoing fascination with the novels I’m sure the collection will go down a storm.
