Dairy farmers do their own ice bucket challenge

By on Monday, August 17, 2015

Dairy farmers have begun protesting at the low cost of milk, by taking on the ice bucket challenge with a twist.

Farmers have been lining up under dumper trucks and having milk poured on them, to highlight how little it is currently worth.

Starting in Devon, it has now spread throughout the South-West.

It comes as farming leaders and ministers from across the UK meet to discuss what the National Farmers’ Union calls a “crisis” over low milk prices.

Aldi, Lidl and Asda have already said they will pay a minimum price of 28p per litre. Morrisons will pay 26p per litre from later this month.
