Barclays and Lyle & Scott partner to create contactless payment jacket
By Rich Leigh on Wednesday, September 2, 2015
Scottish knitwear brand Lyle & Scott has developed a £150 jacket with Barclays’ bPay technology in the cuff – effectively creating the first (I think) ‘contactless payment’ fashion item.
The jacket gives wearers the ability to make payments up to £30.
A nice idea – but nowhere near as cool as a guy I once saw dressed as a wizard at Paddington station, who waved a staff, seemingly with an Oyster card chip attached in some way to the end, over the ticket barriers.
You can buy the jacket at Lyle & Scott’s Carnaby Street store in London, or online here.
