Walking on eggshells – victims of domestic violence share their stories on White Ribbon Day

A haunting piece of artwork is on display at Surrey Police Headquarters in Guildford as part of White Ribbon Day, a campaign focused on men who condemn violence against women.
‘Not Just Words’ is made up of broken egg shells with anonymous messages inside from domestic abuse victims, including children, and their family and friends.
The installation comes days after a Moroccan TV show, the equivalent of ITV’s Loose Women, was condemned for showing women how to use make-up to cover bruises from domestic violence.
Officers and staff and Surrey Police took the White Ribbon pledge to never commit, condone or remain silent about men’s violence against women in all its forms.
So far, the story has had coverage in The Sun and local Surrey press.
It’s a compelling piece of PR with a strong message that will hopefully contribute to bringing about real change to police force attitudes towards victims of domestic violence.
