Morrisons invents the Yorkshire pudding pizza

When Italy met Yorkshire: supermarket giant Morrisons has invented a Yorkshire pudding pizza.
The crazy concoction is to celebrate national Yorkshire pudding day on Sunday 4th February.
The unusual North East England and Mediterranean cuisine hybrid has been launched nationwide in 491 Morrisons stores, in two flavours – pepperoni and meat feast.
Each Yorkshire pud pizza costs £3 each and will be available until 20th February.
Jenny Dixon, from Morrisons, said: “Everyone loves Yorkshire Pudding and everyone loves Pizza, so we are combining the two to create the ultimate comfort food for Yorkshire Pudding Day.
“The crust is made the same way as a typical Yorkshire Pudding and is topped the same way as one of our pizzas.
“We’re looking forward to hearing what customers think but we hope that they’ll love it!”
Some people might love a 6.5 inch mishmash of a British staple and Italian classic – or it might be someone’s idea of a culinary nightmare.
Whatever the verdict on the snack itself – the idea has been featured widely by national media including The Sun, The Independent and The Metro, so we’d say it’s a pretty good PR story that gives people a true slice of what Morrisons has to offer!
