Intel set world record with stunning display of 1218 drones flying in sync

Intel set the first record of the Winter Olympics with a spectacular display of 1,218 drones (flying in sync) to create giant images of Olympic sports and the iconic Olympic rings in the skies over Pyeongchang.
The drone light show that also set a new world record title for the “most unmanned aerial vehicles airborne simultaneously.”
The world record flight was prerecorded for the event.

Following the Opening Ceremony, Intel also ran a 30-second ad spot featuring drones and their unique entertainment possibilities.
The drones have been specifically designed for entertainment purposes, equipped with LED lights that can create countless color combinations and easily be programmed for any animation. The fleet of drones is controlled by one pilot.
