Food Illusions put Chef Ben Churchill in the Limelight

At first and even second glance these objects may appear to be totally inedible, however, all is not as it seems.
In the lead up to the release of his second volume of recipes, self-proclaimed ‘Food illusionist’, Ben Churchill has thrown into question the way we think about food by creating a series of dishes which look anything but appetising.
Thankfully, Churchill’s delectable creations taste nothing like they look.
This shockingly realistic ash tray is actually made from vanilla pannacotta, smokey lapsang gel, meringue powder and chocolate.
And this old soapy sponge? Olive oil sponge cake with mint crumb, sweet milk foam and a baked apple puree. Yum.
After seeing these, one thing is for certain, we will never look at a washing up sponge the same way again.
