A coughing robot teddy bear is helping to highlight the levels of toxic air in the capital – reports The Evening Standard.
The campaign highlights BreezoMeter (the air quality data experts) and has been built to raise awareness around London’s silent killer.
The soft toy has been placed in pollution blackspots to highlight the startling 9,400 premature deaths associated with this public health issue.
“Toxic Toby” is pinned to lamp posts next to flowers to make it look like a memorial but when air pollution breaches legal levels he startles pedestrians by raising a paw and coughing.
In August Greenpeace campaigners set up a blockade outside Volkswagen HQ in Milton Keynes to protest against the effects of diesel engine emissions on the public’s health.
