Serena Williams Sings Bare For Breast Cancer Awareness Month
By Staff on Monday, October 1, 2018
Serena Williams has today released a new video urging women to check themselves for signs of breast cancer by singing a cover of The Divinyls’ hit “I Touch Myself”.
The video was posted to Serena’s Instagram and Twitter pages, where she wrote: “This Breast Cancer Awareness Month I’ve recorded a version of The Divinyls global hit ‘I Touch Myself’ to remind women to self-check regularly.”
In the video, which was created for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the sports star covers her bare chest with her hands while singing to the camera. The clip was created in honour of The Divinyls singer Chrissy Amphlett, who died from the disease in 2013.

Serena said, “The music video is part of the I Touch Myself Project which was created in honour of celebrated diva, Chrissy Amphlett, who passed away from breast cancer, and who gave us her hit song to remind women to put their health first.” Williams, 37, admitted she was out of her “comfort zone” but emphasised that early detection “saves so many lives”.
Within the first 24 hours of being posted the video was viewed more than 1.6 million times with fans applauding the Tennis Champion for her bravery and vulnerability.
