Pizza Hut release augmented reality “Deal Jacker” app

Pizza Hut Delivery have taken a page out of Burger King’s playbook by launching an augmented reality (AR) app to challenge their main rival Domino’s.
Once pizza lovers download The Deal Jacker app, they will be able to use their phone’s camera to scan Domino’s deals, and watch them be replaced with better value Pizza Hut Delivery deals.
If the app fails to recognise a deal Pizza Hut Delivery will give customers 50% off on orders worth £20 or more.
The Deal Jacker follows a similar move in March by Burger King who created an app which let users in Brazil ‘burn’ rival fast food ads in exchange for a free Whopper.

Half a million Whoppers were expected to be given away as part of the campaign.
Beverley D’Cruz, Pizza Hut UK Sales and Marketing Director, commented The Deal Jacker is “the perfect expression of what Pizza Hut Delivery stands for – overdelivering in every way.”
The app will be available on both the Apple and Android app stores from 8th April.
