To celebrate Louis Tomlinson’s lead single ‘Two of Us’ from his highly anticipated debut solo album, the former One Direction member has released a moving music video in collaboration with Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research UK, and Bluebell Children’s Hospice.
The video sees Louis connect with 83-year-old Richard Green who lost his wife to Alzheimer’s around the same time Louis sadly lost his mother to Leukaemia in 2016.
During the clip Louis and Richard share their experiences of losing a loved one, experiences that have clearly informed the singer’s song writing as ‘Two of Us’ includes the lyrics ‘So I will keep you day and night, here until the day I die. I’ll be living one life for the two of us.’
Since his wife’s passing, Louis learns, Richard has created a bucket list which includes flying in a helicopter, driving a race car and riding a roller-coaster. The video documents the pair bonding whilst ticking off items from the list culminating in Green (an avid singer) performing at one of Louis’ live shows. The heart-warming video ends with the details of each charity accompanied by the hashtag #LouisandRichard
Speaking about the video, Sinead Donoghue, Director of Fundraising at Alzheimer’s Society, says: ‘We’re thrilled that Louis Tomlinson’s new video encourages people to donate to Alzheimer’s Society. Richard, who appears alongside Louis in the video, sadly lost his wife to dementia. There is hope for the other 850,000 people living with the condition in the UK today, but we desperately need funds to improve care, develop new treatments and, ultimately, find a cure.’
