The anti-brexit campaign group known as LedByDonkeys are marking President Trump’s state visit with provocative projections appearing on Ben Big, The Tower of London and Madame Tussauds.
The first of the stunts, which saw a video of Boris Johnson criticising the visiting President projected onto the side of Big Ben, aims to embarrass the pair who have been publicly exchanging words of support in recent days.
Over the weekend, The President appeared to endorse Johnson’s bid for Tory Leadership with his remarks ‘I think Boris would do a very good job. I think he would be excellent. He has been very positive about me and our country.’
The projected clip from 2015 however, tells a very different story.
Hey @realDonaldTrump, you just endorsed your Brexit buddy @BorisJohnson but he said some VERY NASTY things about you and he doesn’t want you to know. So we projected his words onto Big Ben. Watch with the SOUND ON #TrumpUKVisit pic.twitter.com/etUb6tk9eX

In the clip, the then Mayor of London is less-than-flattering saying, “Donald Trump’s ill-informed comments are complete and utter nonsense. I think he’s betraying a quite stupefying ignorance that makes him frankly unfit to hold the office of President of the United States. I think Donald Trump is clearly out of his mind if he thinks that’s a sensible way to proceed, to ban people going to the United States in that way, or to any country. I would invite him to come and see the whole of London and take him round the city but I don’t want to expose Londoners to the risk to any unnecessary risk of meeting Donald Trump.’
Later this afternoon, a second projection appeared on the side of the Tower of London displaying Obama and Trump’s approval rating side by side.
The ratings put Obama at 72% whilst Trump is favoured by just 21% of the British public.
Hi @realDonaldTrump. Just so you know, you’re wildly unpopular here in Britain. SAD! People REALLY don’t like you (though they love @BarackObama). Hope you like seeing your FAILING approval numbers projected onto the Tower of London. #TrumpUKvisit pic.twitter.com/oT332Fd6fE

The final stunt took a further swipe at Trump by projecting a giant USS John McCain baseball cap onto Madam Tussauds, referencing the President’s request that the USS John. S. McCain be hidden from view during his visit to Japan.
Hey @realDonaldTrump, we read the story about the sailors on a US warship being ordered to hide from you because you’re triggered by the name on their hats. So we turned Madame Tussaud’s into a giant USS John McCain baseball cap. Welcome to London! pic.twitter.com/KuynOwupFm

LedByDonkeys made sure the President couldn’t miss the projections by tweeting each stunt directly to Trump’s Twitter using the President’s own characteristic style.
