Sky-high banknotes call on the G20 to address corruption

Six giant banknotes soared over Rio de Janeiro in a striking stunt aimed at pressuring world-leaders to finally prioritise the issue of corruption at the G20 Summit.
The “Money Gliders” campaign, orchestrated by Transparency International, turned Rio’s skies into a bold protest platform to spotlight years of inaction on cross-border corruption among G20 nations.
Six paragliders, each equipped with custom $100-bill canopies, soared over the city before landing on Barra da Tijuca Beach. Their touchdown banner read: “How obvious should corruption be before it’s a G20 priority?”
The message is clear: corruption is everywhere, costing the global economy a staggering $3.6 trillion annually and undermining sustainability and growth efforts. Yet, year after year, the G20 has repeatedly side-lined anti-corruption efforts.
The campaign video showcases the gliders in action and invites the public to join the conversation with the hashtag #G20TakeAction, finally bringing attention to the loopholes that let dirty money flow across borders unchecked.
The final takeaway? The money may be fake, but the message is real – corruption can’t keep flying under the radar.
