Dumb Ways to Die: the train safety viral hit
By Gemma Storey on Monday, December 3, 2012
Train companies around the world could learn a thing or two from Australian train network Metro Trains Melbourne. Okay, so train safety campaigns aren’t usually the sexiest ad campaigns in the universe, but McCANN has changed this, creating a brilliant viral sensation of a safety campaign.
Dumb Ways To Die is a three minute video which uses cartoon characters and an annoyingly catchy song, to highlight silly ways to die, with the final few deaths being caused by doing dumb things like going through a level crossing when you shouldn’t and running across the tracks.
The video, uploaded to YouTube on 14th November, already has more than 30.4 million views, and the Facebook page has more than 2700 likes.
