Kate and Wills Come Up Smelling Of Roses

A giant portrait of Prince William and Kate Middleton, made up of more than 2,000 flowers, was exhibited in Trafalga Square this morning.

Created by RHS Chelsea Flower Show Winner, Joseph Massie, in partnership with Asda, the portrait was installed outside the National Portrait Gallery just in time for Valentine’s Day, tomorrow.

The image is based on one of the royal couple’s official engagement photographs taken by Mario Testino in 2010. It measured 8.8ft tall by 6.6ft wide and took 150 man hours to make, with flowers provided from Asda’s Valentine’s Day bouquets, including roses, carnations and tulips.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the royal faces used for unusual artwork. Back in 2011, Crown Carveries created this portrait made entirely of carvery ingredients for the Royal Wedding.
